People use to hate the thought of retirement for it meant you
were getting old. A lot of people thought of it as giving up the
things they enjoyed. retirement homes were places where you
went because you were old and there was no one to look after
you. People would beg and plead not to be put in an old
folks home.
Well today retirement has a new name it is called active-living.
there is no such thing as an old folks home anymore. People are
staying fit longer and enjoying a healthy fitness and reaching
ages that were very uncommon 10 years ago. No longer is
there a stigma on people 50 and over. Today's retiree is active
with doing the things they never had time for. They live in
community homes where they have many things to keep them
busy. We have villages and homes for those that want the
company but still have their own apartment. We have heard
this is the generation that will not die. We still hear our
music from when we were teenagers. Look at Mick Jagger with
the Rolling Stones or Paul McCartney and many others. They still do
what they enjoy doing. Rock and Roll music. And they are over 60.
What about some of the actors who still work and are over
70. Staying healthy is the key to a great life after 40.
People are learning things they never thought they could. Like
singing or using the computer. You have heard the term
second childhood, well now we can enjoy our second childhood and
with the knowledge that we deserve it.
